ASCAP, BMI, and SOCAN Are only half the story…
Registering your songs with your PRO — ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN — will only get you the “performance” half of your royalties — you’re missing the “mechanical” streaming and YouTube royalties, and Counterpart will get them for you.
How do we do it?
We use your current songwriting catalog to claim your uncollected royalties so you get paid what is already sitting out there. We also look for songs you may not have registered anywhere and work with you to get your shares registered. You keep your copyrights and get to make all of the decisions: we just help you collect.
We collect mechanicals in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the European Union (Germany, France, etc.), and 50 other countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia. We also collect royalties for YouTube “user-generated content” streams, which is when you or someone else uses your song in a video. This is only available from an administrator like Counterpart, which has an agreement to collect these monies for songwriters and publishers.
Why work with Counterpart instead of other, bigger publishing administrators?
We know the processes at independent publishing administrators aren’t working because we have seen the unclaimed songs and have even helped songwriters get the money their admins have missed!
We are available and will respond to your questions VERY quickly: You can email, text, or talk to our founder when you have questions. His email is Ben@counterpartmusic.com if you want to learn more now!
We pay out MONTHLY, not every three or six months like our competitors: U.S. mechanicals are paid out every month, so why should you have to wait to get paid? We’ll pay you shortly after the money comes in.
We do NOT force you into a long-term deal: Our deals are for one year, no auto-renew—we will reach out to you when the year is coming to an end, and if you want to keep working with us, that’s great. We think you’ll like what we do and want to stay with us.
We do NOT take your publishing rights: You keep all of your copyrights and make all of the decisions. Our relationship is about helping you collect royalties owed to you.
